Technical Program Manager & Senior Engineer

Track: Senior IC with a clear path to CTO Languages: Japanese + Mandarin + English (all three, business level)

About the role

This is a high-ownership, multi-hat role combining Technical Program Manager and Senior Engineer. You will manage cross-regional engineering teams, drive delivery of our AI companion app and enterprise product suite, and serve as the operational bridge between Taipei and Tokyo HQ — all while remaining hands-on in production code.

This is one of the most senior engineering roles at Gazai, with a clear path toward CTO. You will shape not just how we build, but how the entire engineering function operates and scales. This is not a pure management role: daily coding and direct contribution to production are expected.

Responsibilities

Engineering & delivery

• Manage the software development team across Taipei and Tokyo, delivering our AI companion mobile app, content creation platform, and agentic B2B product suite
• Collaborate with product and operations teams in Tokyo; manage expectations, prioritize incoming requests, and maintain a healthy backlog and sprint schedule
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment — sprint planning, retrospectives, stakeholder reviews — and convert outcomes into executable plans
• Own release readiness: testing coordination, go/no-go decisions, App Store submission, and unblocking last-mile delivery issues
• Test team deliverables, validate edge cases, and sign off on release readiness; maintain and update automated tests
• Design and build scalable, performant solutions for both B2B and B2C users
• Drive production observability and performance improvements (monitoring, alerting, latency analysis) and translate findings into prioritized work
• Provide rapid response for production issues: triage, troubleshoot, coordinate resolution, and prevent recurrence
• Create and maintain clear specs, runbooks, and process documentation so work scales across regions

Taiwan partner engagement

• Manage the relationship and expectations with Gazai’s main partner company in Taiwan
• Own enterprise partner enablement: onboarding, admin training, documentation, and ongoing support
• Translate partner needs into shipped product: define requirements, prioritize, and deliver enterprise features
• Plan and execute partner workshops and training sessions end-to-end
• Maintain a tight feedback loop across product, content, and operations
• Support on-site seminars to promote Gazai’s brand at major universities and organizations in Taiwan

Qualifications

• Trilingual: Japanese, Mandarin, and English — all at business level. Able to work directly with Tokyo HQ in Japanese (meetings and written documents) without a translator
• 10+ years of software development experience across JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and full-stack development
• Experience designing and building scalable, performant, AI-friendly infrastructure; comfortable reasoning through infrastructure trade-offs
• Experience leading cross-regional, cross-functional teams across languages and time zones
• Experience shipping consumer mobile apps (iOS/Android), including App Store release readiness and compliance
• Strong production debugging skills: performance analysis, observability, and monitoring
• Experience building and maintaining test strategy across manual QA and automated E2E (mobile + backend)
• Experience supporting enterprise/B2B partners: onboarding, admin enablement, training materials, and ongoing support
• Strong stakeholder management: can run meetings, write clear follow-ups, and drive decisions with imperfect information
• Strong written communication: clear specs, decision records, and operational runbooks in English, Japanese, and Mandarin
• High bar for quality user experience and product polish
